Mission and Philosophy
The purpose, mission and objectives of European University Cyprus (E.U.C.) are to advance learning and knowledge by teaching and research, to enable students to obtain the advantages of University education, and to provide relevant service to the Community. E.U.C. has a strong commitment to higher education in general, and excellence in Teaching, Research and Service to the Community in particular.
Educational Purpose The educational purpose of E.U.C. is to create an academic and social environment, in which students are challenged, guided and supported to develop and achieve their personal and professional goals. Students are challenged to develop as independent, effective, active, rational and creative thinkers and citizens, who appreciate and respect social, moral and ethical values. An integrated general education curriculum and strong academic and career concentrations characterize the academic programs of the University. Graduate programs offer the students the opportunity to extend and deepen knowledge of specialized disciplines and secure additional training for greater occupational competency.
Research Purpose E.U.C. views research as an important function, which stems from the awareness of a responsibility to contribute to the expansion of knowledge and understanding. It, therefore, encourages, promotes and supports research and scholarship among the faculty and the students.
Service to the Community Purpose E.U.C. understands its special role as an intellectual and social resource. In this role, the University through its faculty, students, facilities, and services, assumes major responsibility for the enrichment of the quality of the society and the economic development of the country.
International Accreditation and/or Memberships E.U.C. is a member of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), The European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE), The European Council for Business Education (ECBE) and the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE).
One of the many responsibilities the University has towards its students is that of creating an interesting and supportive environment that meets the wide range of interests and talents of students. Student life is an important aspect of E.U.C. education as it can offer a unique opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills.
The Office of Student Affairs of the university is the pillar and sponsor of many programs and activities that take place outside the classroom and which aim at enhancing student life at the University. The Office of Student Affairs tries to cultivate a feeling of shared responsibility whereby students can learn the importance of teamwork and become members of an international community. Personal and career counseling, student activities, athletic/cultural events,job placement and student housing are just some of the areas encompassed by the Office of Student Affairs, which help in student development.
